Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist will report to the Director of HR and will provide support in all aspects of HR and safety related matters. This role will complete routine HR and Health and Safety transactional activities, while at the same time providing accurate, efficient, and consistent support to the business

The HR Generalist needs to understand both internal and external customer requirements and provide exceptional customer service that is timely and accurate.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist, organize and support staff hiring activities, including applicant screening, interviewing, extending offers of employment and conducting employee orientation.
  • Benefits administration including all employee data changes and monthly billing reconciliation.
  • Administer job descriptions, performance management and salary administrative programs.
  • Act as point of contact for all employees and management for Human Resources and Health and Safety related forms, materials, etc.
  • Responsible for safety orientation, workplace inspections, and accident/injury reporting and maintenance.
  • Provide direction and support for workers, supervisors and managers regarding their responsibilities for maintaining a positive and inclusive safety culture.
  • Organize, conduct and maintain all training programs as it relates to HR/Health and Safety regulations
  • Assist with WSIB and disability management programs, including report submission, communication with adjudicators/insurance companies and facilitating the return-to-work process.
  • Vendor management in relation to uniforms, PPE and employee services
  • Administration of all social events internal and external
  • Implement and advise on HR Policies and Procedures
  • Provide general consultative services to employees and management, ensuring sound legal HR practices and procedures are followed.
  • Monitor and review employee relations activities and escalate to HR Director for resolution as required.
  • Time and attendance tracking
  • Maintenance of all employee records and files
  • Utilizing Word, Excel and PowerPoint to generate correspondence, reports and presentations.
  • Ensure legal compliance with all applicable Federal and Provincial Legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights, etc.)
  • Special projects and duties as assigned.


  • 2+ years previous HR experience in a similar role and/or a HR post-secondary graduate with strong knowledge of all aspects of applicable legislation
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and customer service skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft office
  • Previous experience with HR and Recruiting software is an asset.
  • Superior written and verbal communication with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent research, administration, and organizations skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
